A York holiday-let turnover checklist
A repeatable sequence for cleaner, calmer changeovers between short-stay guests.
Treat every turnover as a sequence
A reliable holiday-let changeover begins before arrival. Keep one property-specific checklist covering access, linen, cleaning, consumables, presentation and issue reporting. York properties vary—from compact flats to converted townhouses—so the checklist should reflect the actual building.
Arrival and first check
Ventilate where appropriate, check for obvious damage or lost property, and note urgent maintenance before cleaning hides the evidence. Follow the owner's agreed process for reporting and storing found items.
Clean in a consistent order
Start with tasks that need dwell time, then work from cleaner areas towards kitchens, bathrooms and floors. Use separate cloths and tools appropriately. Finish with high-touch points and a deliberate room-by-room presentation check.
Guest-ready details
- Present beds with the linen supplied for the booking.
- Check visible crockery and frequently touched kitchen surfaces.
- Reset bathrooms and mirrors without leaving wet marks.
- Confirm bins are handled according to the property's instructions.
- Check selected consumables against a simple minimum level.
Report, do not improvise
If something is damaged, missing or unsafe, report it using the agreed channel. Avoid unapproved repairs or substitutions. A short message with a clear photograph and room name is more useful than a vague end-of-day summary.
Build sensible buffer time between bookings, especially on busy York weekends. A checklist can make work consistent, but it cannot make an unrealistic changeover window safe or thorough.
